We believe that it should be the common mission of all Christians to participate in taking the good news of Jesus Christ to the entire world (Matthew 28: 18-20). For many, they will become solid supporters and senders but it is our sincere prayer that God will raise up hundreds from River Valley Church who are willing to say, "here am I Lord, send me" to those who have yet to hear.

For those with the honor and privilege of being sent, the journey will certainly be filled with many adventures and challenges. We believe that all the challenges are part of God's process and plan of bringing glory to Jesus Christ among all the nations of the earth.

Each individual journey will look different, but the goal is the same, for the global glory of Jesus Christ. For some, the journey to the mission field will happen sooner and be smoother than expected but for others it will be more difficult and take longer than you may have imagined. With this in mind we have created the Missionary Action Plan (MAP) designed to help build a strong missions foundation and support for those being sent. It’s designed to take between 12 and 24 months complete. You can view the phases of the MAP by clicking “MAP Phases List” on the column to the left.

So, no matter how long it takes or where your journey leads, begin to prepare yourself for what God is calling you to be and do. We have learned that the most effective missionaries are those who are passionately in love with Jesus Christ and are well prepared. In addition, get super-involved at your campus. Take NEXT, get connected, serve with passion in lifeteams, and grow in lifegroups; especially Explore. Your campus is part of your life community, so it’s important to serve and get well-connected.

To quote two of my missionary heroes, Jim Elliot once said, "He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." And as the great William Borden said, "Say yes to Jesus every time, live your life with no reserves, no retreat and no regrets."
